CandyPick #7 Unstoppable Copier, Butt-Saving File Recovery & Copying (freeware)
You know the sinking feeling you get when you try to open a file or copy a folder to another drive, and you receive an ominous warning from Windows that says “the file cannot be read” or “the file cannot be accessed”? It’s a horrible hybrid between panic and regret that leaves you wishing life came with an undo button.
Even though we’ve all had the importance of backing up computers banged into our heads on a near daily basis, sometimes we still fail to do so. The fact remains, data isn’t safe until it exists in more than one physical location. If you find yourself in need of some file-recovery or file/folder duplication, Unstoppable Copier can come in and save the day.
Never trust a hard drive unless you can throw it with your hands tied behind your back
When a hard drive goes flaky and you start getting weird errors when saving, launching or copying files, you have a serious problem on your hands. The first thing you should do in these cases is try to get a full backup of the drive. But sometimes even the best disk imaging tools choke on corrupt files or when the drive has bad sectors. Not Unstoppable Copier. True to its name, it will continue to huff and puff and try its best to retrieve every last fragment of data. And, unlike Windows (and most other imaging utilities), if it can’t save a particular piece of data, it will still carry on and copy what it can.
Run, don’t walk!
The bottom line is simple. Don’t wait until you’ve got a crisis on your hands to prepare your PC for the worst. Start doing regularly scheduled Windows backups *now* and download and install Unstoppable Copier anyway. This way if (when?) you find yourself saying, “OMG, I forgot to backup my computer and now I’m having issues opening an important file!” you’ll be armed and ready for action. The same goes for old CDs and DVDs, if you’re trying to back them up and having trouble because of scratches, Unstoppable Copier will try its best to get all the bits off them too.
There are a bunch of other great apps and free utilities available for download on Roadkil.net, so even if you have your file-recovery needs met, the site is still well worth exploring.
This is Dr. Apps signing off. Until next time, *drive* safe everyone. :P And don’t forget to follow me on Twitter. Oh yeah, don’t forget to backup your computer now!

I like, but for every day coping I prefer TeraCopy (http://www.codesector.com/teracopy.php) since it integrates with explorer.
Give me that feature I’d switch in a heart beat.

I’m definitely a huge TeraCopy fan. It’s one of the first things I install on a new system. It make’s dealing with moving/copying files from user profile to user profile really easy. I guess I just use the two differently. I use Unstoppable Copier more for unstable devices, while I use TeraCopy for verifiable (MD5 hashing) file transferring mostly.
