CandyPick #3: SlideDeck Helps You Communicate Complex Information Clearly (free & paid)

About a month ago we quietly launched a redesigned version of the OpenCandy website.

One of the biggest challenges we faced in redesigning the site was figuring out how to explain how our Software Network works to developers and advertisers without resorting to dense blocks of text. SlideDeck turned out to be the perfect tool. If you’ve visited our redesigned developers and advertisers pages, you’ve probably noticed the nifty rotating slides we added.

You guessed it. Those were created using SlideDeck.

What is SlideDeck
SlideDeck is a JavaScript plug-in that lets you create dynamic slide decks (sometimes called “slides”, “sliders” or “decks”) and organize web content into a digestible format in minutes. Decks made with SlideDeck are a great way to present information in an aesthetically pleasing and natural way without taking up too much valuable screen-estate. When designing a website, you want to present information as clearly and concisely as possible. SlideDeck helps you do just that.

Perhaps the coolest thing about SlideDeck though is how easy it makes it to use all the customization options it provides. For example, we chose to make our decks vertical instead of the more traditional horizontal style. Deviating from the default settings in this way can cause a lot of otherwise user-friendly tools to lose their ease-of-use veneer. Not so for SlideDeck.

“Deck” the halls, err websites
Considering that none of us working on the site redesign had ever used the product before, the fact that SlideDeck is now featuring one of the decks we created on their site says a good deal about how intuitive and easy to use the tool really is.

So we tip our hats to the SlideDeck developers!

SlideDeck is available in both a free and a paid version (we’re using the paid version) and works with almost any website or blog. I hope SlideDeck can be a valuable tool in your website building arsenal.

Dr. App – thanks for the flattering post!

There is no doubt that your implementation of SlideDeck kicks ass! We should work together to create a custom Smart SlideDeck theme for your blog posts.

Meanwhile, we’ll keep slaving away to make the product even better. We’ll even build some new ones – stay tuned SlideDeck’s little sister: http://www.thehellobar.com.

    Chuck,

    You’re welcome!

Just checked out Hello Bar and it looks great. Thanks for putting this post on the Hello Bar on SlideDeck’s site.

Definitely interested in working with you guys and gals and coming with something to make a SlideDeck theme for blog posts! That would be awesome.

Thanks again and be well. :)
